    Summary
Most master's students enter the program with academic preparation in psychology, counseling, or social work - many also have related work experience.  There is commonly a wide range of ages and experiences in each cohort. If a bachelor's degree was not earned in either of the three fields listed above, prospective students only need three prerequisite courses: Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Developmental Psychology. The Admissions Committee looks for a candidate's demonstration of exceptional ability in professional background or training.  The following criteria are necessary for consideration: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. A major in psychology, social work, counseling, or demonstrated equivalent (otherwise prerequisite courses required). A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Graduate-level writing ability and knowledge and use of APA writing techniques are required.
