We look for demonstrated excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate coursework, high marks on the GRE or equivalent standardized test, and previous experience in a research setting. Students matriculating into the program receive individualized training, learn to think critically, and develop technical and other skills to prepare them for careers in scientific inquiry, teaching and mentorship. Strong candidates for our PhD program in Physiology have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate courses, especially those in the biological and physical sciences in addition to mathematics. In addition, strong candidates have demonstrated skills in a laboratory setting, and are capable of communicating their research experiences conversationally and formally in presentations. Scientific work experiences in academia and/or industry is preferred.
